Bringing ancestors to life

There was a lovely article in The Guardian today that caught my eye. It was about the upcoming Roman travelling exhibition from the British Museum that will soon arrive in Bristol. The bit that drew me in was this quote;

The aim, said Neil MacGregor, director of the British Museum, is to “allow visitors to get close to our Roman ancestors and appreciate both the breadth of the Roman empire and its local impact on Britain”.

I really liked that. That an exhibition is about meeting your ancestors and bringing them to life before your eyes. (And I say that as someone with no known Roman ancestry.)

This is surely what we should always aim to do?
